FUNERAL MESSAGE
Captain R. G. E.
Son of the Deceased

"I bring love and condolences from Officers, Soldiers and Friends of our mother to you, her Children, Brothers, Sisters, Relatives and Friends gathered here today to bid a final farewell to a Soldier of Christ.

As we say goodbye to mom, she ends her earthly salvation and walk with Christ with a call to you, her family and friends.

"…now is Christ risen from the dead and become the first-fruits of them that slept.
For since by man came death, by man came also resurrection of the dead.
For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive…
For He must reign, till He hath put all enemies under His feet.
The last enemy that shall be destroyed is death.
Behold, I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall be changed, in a
moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall all be changed.
O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory?
But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.
Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye steadfast, unmovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord.
I Corinthians 15: 20-22, 25-26, and 51-58 (KJV)

Our mother desired that ALL her children, relatives and friends be saved. She lived with a faith and belief that we have a promise which is illustrated in John 11:23-27 and 38-44 with the recounting of the resurrection of Lazarus.

"Jesus said to her, ‘Your brother will rise again.’
Martha answered, ‘I know he will rise again in the resurrection at the last day.’
Jesus said to her, ‘I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in me will live, even though he dies; and whoever lives and believes in me will never die. Do you believe this?’  ‘Yes, Lord’, she told him, I believe that you are the Christ, the Son of God, who was to come into the world.’ ‘…Jesus, once more deeply moved, came to the tomb. It was a cave with a stone laid across the entrance. ‘Take away the stone,’ he said. ‘But Lord,’ said Martha, the sister of the dead man, ‘by this time there is a bad odor, for he has been dead four days.’ The Jesus said, ‘Did I not tell you that if you believe, you would see the Glory of God?’ So they took away the stone. The Jesus looked up and said, ‘Father, I thank you that you have heard me. I knew that you always hear me, but I said this for the benefit of the people standing here, that they may believe that you have sent me.’
When he had said this, Jesus called in a loud voice, ‘Lazarus, come out.’ The dead man came out, his hands and feet wrapped with the strips of linen, and a cloth around his face. Jesus said to them, ‘Take off the grave clothes and let him go.’
I Corinthians 15: 20-22, 25-26, 51-58 (NIV)

I tell you there will come a day when the last trumpet shall sound and our mother along with all those who have died in Christ WILL come forth from the grave, FREE of DEATH and ready to enter into the Kingdom of God.

Then the promise, "Death has been swallowed up in victory. Where O death is your victory? Where O death is your sting?" becomes fact for our mother.

Many of us here present already have this promise and assurance of victory after death.

Some do not.

How can we ALL be part of this tremendous event and so great a Salvation??? How can we share the rejoicing with our Mother and Her Saviour Jesus???

The answer of course is by following in the Grace of the Lord Jesus, by being cleansed of our sins. The following four statements provide a simple guide to that Salvation.

  1. Recognize our sin. Romans 3:23 teaches us that "all have sinned and come short of the glory of God." That means you, me and everybody else you ever met.

  2. Repent for that sin. Acts 3:19 tells us that we need to "Repent, then, and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped out, that times of refreshing may come from the Lord, and that he may send the Christ, who has been appointed for you--even Jesus.

  3. Call out to Jesus. John 3:16 teaches "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. In other words, Recognition of sin, Repentance towards God, Faith in our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ are necessary to Salvation.

  4. Believe. The Bible is full of statements that teach us if we believe what God has promised is true, and WILL happen, we can be saved. Lots of folks are truly sorry for their sin, have repented and even called out to Jesus. However, they fall short when they find themselves having a difficult time believing that the Salvation is Complete for them. Lightning doesn't have to flash, nor does the thunder need to roll to verify one's Salvation. Faith completed the process, not works, not deeds, not woulda or coulda. What God promised is complete and stands by itself.

BELIEVE IT FOLKS!!!

You can and will receive the same promise our mother had claimed for her own. ‘Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life; he that believeth in Me, though he were dead, yet shall he live: And whosoever liveth and believeth in Me shall never die. Believest thou this? She said unto Him, Yea, Lord: I believe…. (KJV John 11:21-27)

Our mother said yes to God’s call and now, "He will swallow up death in victory; and the Lord God will wipe away tears from off all faces; and the rebuke of His people shall He take away from off all the earth: for the Lord hath spoken it. And it shall be said in that day, Lo, this is our God; we have waited for Him, and He will save us: this is the Lord; we have waited for Him, we will be glad and rejoice in His Salvation." (Luke 25:8, 9 NIV)

You, my family, Mom’s family, her friends and relatives need to know that God gave our mother His love and His Salvation. God offers the same to you today. You must choose. Choose whether you will accept or reject Him, His Salvation.

Mother left for you this Final Call and Plea for your Salvation AND even though she’s with her Jesus and can no longer call you to Salvation, Jesus is STILL calling and STILL waits.

"For he saith, I have heard thee in a time accepted, and in the day of salvation I helped thee:

Behold, NOW is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of Salvation."

Mom was ready for this day and wants YOU to watch and be ready.

"THE LORD BLESS THEE AND KEEP THEE, THE LORD MAKE HIS FACE TO SHINE UPON THEE AND GIVE THEE PEACE." AMEN!
